In 2011 I graduated from Sussex University with a 2:1 in Media Practice & Theory. This has proven to be an immensely valuable experience which taught me countless skills and life lessons. It is also where I feel that I honed my writing skills, having to rapidly and consistently create meticulous, engaging and informative content on different subjects and in different formats.
Studying at the University of Sussex taught me an enormous amount about the importance of studying the media. I was taught a huge amount of practical skills in the practice half of my degree, where I studied photography, documentary film making and digital media (which I specialised in). These projects were individual (photography and digital media) and team projects (documentary film making), so I also learnt time management, self-organisational and teamwork skills. The projects adhered to a brief but were a chance to show creativity and commentary on areas of interest - they were all also accompanied by written work including workbooks, storyboards, research and more. This was expanded on in the third year where an entire module, entitled Practice Research & Development, was on documentation of the project before it was built. Feel free to contact me if you would like to see any of my projects or project documentation.
